Lesson Plans for Divorce/Remarriage Small Group
Week 1: Create group rules and begin working on a drawing/writing about your family.
Week 2: Finish drawing/writing activity about your family and present to others in the group.
Week 3: Students will play “Divorce Jenga.” Each block in the game is color coded to match questions about divorce. Students will have to answer a question that matches the color of the block they pulled.
Week 4: Students will discuss the stages of grief that go along with divorce. Each stage is color coded, and the students will make drawings to represent how much of each feeling they have experienced. Students will share with the group as much as they are comfortable.
Week 5: Students will play a card game that requires them to ask others questions about divorce in order to collect cards.
Week 6: Each grade level group will draw and write a story about divorce. The story will start out “Once upon a time, there was a girl/boy whose parents got divorced.” Each student will add a sentence to the story, and will add their illustration to the drawing paper.
Week 7: Student will finish their story if needed, and will do a closure activity (to be decided).
